WORK HARD broke a step slow, was urged up while saving ground into the first turn, eased out then bumped when working between rivals nearing the half, quickly righted and made a quick gain while saving ground near the five sixteenths, edged up behind the trio of leaders soon after, swung out five wide for a clear run in upper stretch, rolled up under a drive and engaged WALDRIP leaving the furlong grounds, wrested command a sixteenth out then drew clear. WALDRIP vied inside foes into the first turn then was firmly rated back off the leaders into the backstretch, crept closer nearing the far turn then angled out, ranged up four wide to bid three deep entering the lane, took over near the three sixteenths, failed to contain the outer winner then gave way grudgingly. MASAKADO took over between runners then cleared nearing the backstretch, set the early pace two wide, tapered in while taking pressure leaving the far turn, dug in and battled inside WALDRIP from upper stretch to past mid stretch, drifted out a bit and gave way grudgingly. ROB THE RICH edged up four wide into the first turn to gain a stalking spot, shifted five wide with a run in upper stretch then came up empty in the final furlong. TALKLESSWORKMORE , three wide stalking the pace, moved dropped in a path and bid into the far turn, pressed between rivals into the stretch, failed to kick on leaving the three sixteenths and weakened. BE BETTER lost ground four to five wide, was under pressure the final turn and faded. PRINCE KHOZAN , between rivals early, was bumped nearing the half and dropped back. ALVY settled off the pace while saving ground, lost action after making contact with the winner heading to the half, was pulled up soon after and walked off. There was a stewards' inquiry concerning ALVY through the backstretch run. No action was deemed necessary.
