Footnotes
WHO'S THE KING contested the early pace leaving the start then took command, set a moderate pace off of the rail into the turn, drew off under mild urging into the stretch then coasted to the wire under hand urging in deep stretch. SCHRADER contested the early pace then ceded the front to WHO'S THE KING, stalked that rival through moderate fractions while saving ground into the turn, tipped to the two path at the quarter marker, could not keep pace with the winner into the lane and was a clear second best. MUGATU broke a bit slowly and was allowed to settle in the early stages, made a three then four wide bid nearing the quarter marker, flattened out in the stretch but stayed on in the late stages to earn the show honors. THE COUNT IS ON raced close up to the early pace, stalked the pace two then three wide into the turn, could not find the needed response into upper stretch and weakened in the drive. BRINDANO was unhurried in the early stages, coaxed three then four wide nearing the quarter marker, swung five wide into the stretch, needed more in the final stages but passed tiring rivals to improve position. SQUARE SLICE had an equipment repair in the paddock prior to the start, bobbled at the break and was off a bit slowly, settled while saving ground to the turn, maintained an inside path to the stretch and did not offer the needed late response. KEEN SURGE settled while never far back in the early stages, tracked the pace two then three wide nearing the quarter marker, lacked the needed response into upper stretch and gave way in the drive. BRIGHTY was well placed while saving ground in the early going, tracked the moderate pace from the inside into the turn, could not keep pace to upper stretch and tired in the final furlong.
