Footnotes
HARD AS LIFE , taken to rate between rivals early on, edged up to the inside of a foe near the half, eased out and took aim of a three way pace battle soon after, bid three deep into the lane, moved to a slim lead a furlong out while under a drive and attempting to lay in on his left lead, switched over to his correct lead a stride or two later, sparred outside BADGE OF WAR the rest of the way and dug in under solid hand encouragement to narrowly prevail. BADGE OF WAR , with the pace three wide, moved to near even terms while three deep past the five eighths, poked a head in front dueling past the three eighths, dug in when joined from his outside near the three sixteenths, stayed on after being headed in mid stretch, fought valiantly while in close proximity with HARD AS LIFE and just missed. TONY ECLIPSE contested the pace outside NIGHT TIME NAP then between foes through the backstretch run and second turn, dropped closer to the rail as NIGHT TIME NAP dropped out approaching the lane, could not quite go with the top pair in mid stretch but kept on with good effort despite drifting out late. AMY'S MUSIC lagged inside, swung out for the drive, switched over to his right lead near the sixteenth pole and churned on. MISSOURI RIVER , four to five wide most of the way, was under pressure from the three eighths and failed to muster up a solid finish. DEVIL'S CAY , four wide around the first turn, stalked the embattled leaders through the backstretch run, edged up to the inside of the winner past the three eighths, chased and faded. NIGHT TIME NAP disputed the pace to the inside of a pair of foes, held a short lead into the far turn, was under pressure to stay in contention leaving the three eighths, failed to kick on near the quarter pole and weakened.
