Footnotes
GIFT OF GAB remained along the rail down the backstretch and into the turn while stalking the pace, eased out to the four path turning for home, secured command in upper stretch, drew away under constant encouragement and steadily drifted in the final sixteenth of a mile. WONDER GIRL chased the pace, bid for the lead between horses in upper stretch and continued gamely. DINE AND DASH , bumped by ROYAL SEAMSTRESS leaving the starting gate, was taken to the inner rail leaving the turn, hugged the rail through the lane and finished gamely. FIVECOMMATWO bore in on rivals leaving the starting gate, raced along the inner rail in the stretch, moved to the two path inside the eighth pole and had a mild rally between rivals. AFTERNEATH sprinted to a clear lead leaving the backstretch, drifted off the rail entering the stretch and gave way. LADY CHARLOTTE hopped leaving the starting gate and was no factor. ROYAL SEAMSTRESS bumped DINE AND DASH when forced in by FIVECOMMATWO leaving the starting gate then was outrun. GOLDEN CAN , steadied leaving the starting gate, circled the turn four wide and stumbled entering the stretch. There was a stewards' inquiry concerning the run leaving the turn but no action was taken.
