Footnotes
BARBADIAN RUNNER , away forwardly, raced close up and between runners past the seven eighths, edged up a bit soon into the backstretch, bid two wide outside CATALYTIC near the three eighths, sparred with that one then gained a short lead soon into the stretch, briefly shook clear leaving the eighth pole, dug in when confronted by ADERO leaving the sixteenth marker, kept on tenaciously under left handed encouragement and narrowly prevailed. ADERO , forwardly placed under rating while saving ground, eased out and was put coaxing leaving the far turn, circled four wide with pursuit of the leaders into the lane, collared BARBADIAN runner leaving the sixteenth pole, battled gamely but was denied. CATALYTIC cleared early, set a rated pace towards the inside, met the winner's bid leaving the far turn, dueled under asking into the lane, fought on past mid stretch then faded late. XCELLENT START , antsy just prior to the gates being sprung, reared up in the air at the break while slightly in the hand of an assistant starter, regrouped and saved ground, moved up to be in range leaving the far turn, chased into the lane then flattened out. CADET CORPS , three deep early, chased off the rail into the far turn, failed to respond leaving the three eighths and weakened. DUKE OF DUVAL settled off the inside, crept closer outside runners leaving the far turn, lacked a further kick while four wide into the stretch and weakened. Following a stewards' inquiry, it was determined that XCELLENT START was in the hands of an assistant starter at the break, was declared a non-starter for wagering purposes only but received earnings.
