Footnotes
MERITORIOUS angled in and took command soon after the start putting IRISH NUNSENSE in tight past the wire the first time, set a pressured pace through some reasonable fractions along the inside, hooked up with the runner up in the second turn, long duel to the wire, dug in late to narrowly prevail in game fashion. RIO GRANDE pressed the winner from the outset from the outside, moved to challenged that rival in the two path final turn, extended duel to the wire, could not get by. EXECUTIVE back off the pace while off the inside, dropped in and began to move closer far turn, chased the top two past the furlong marker, shifted out and was steadily gaining on that pair late. SOUPER CHA CHING brushed at the start, raced back off the inside, came four wide for the drive, set down for the drive, showed some belated interest to improve position. LEVERAGE lacked speed, continued back while saving ground through the final turn, asked along late in that bend, showed some mild late interest bo better his position, not a serious threat. IRISH NUNSENSE broke sharply, was put in tight by the winner not long after, brushed with the rail and steadied, recovered and tracked the issue up front along the inside, remained forward along the rail into the far turn, had little left for the drive. RESOLUTE raced in the second flight while off the inside, came up empty when called on for the drive. GOLD SOVEREIGN stumbled badly at the start, raced back, was five wide through the final turn, remained back through the lane. GOLD RESERVE four wide into the first turn when racing in mid pace, was finished after four furlongs. WAR ACE bothered and put in tight by a stumbling GOLD SOVERIGN at the break, remained always back in failing to threaten.
