Footnotes
HOLD OUT , away forwardly and between foes, eased back off the leaders around the first turn then was deftly handled to have some cover through the backstretch run, tipped out to be three wide leaving the far turn, cruised up to engage ELUSIVE IMAGE, spurted clear after being roused in upper stretch, widened the advantage under left handed encouragement past mid stretch then held firm while kept alert. SALTED CARMEL had speed between foes then was taken back and dropped in approaching the first turn, settled in the clear through the backstretch run, was given his cue past the three eighths then rolled up four wide approaching the lane, failed to quicken with the winner past the three sixteenths but continued with good energy to be second best. PHIL'S PRINCE , forced a bit inward at the break, corrected and settled off the pace while saving ground, edged up towards the inside into the lane, eased out to advance between runners near mid stretch then kept on with good effort while gaining the show. MACLEAN'S ROOK saved ground into the first turn, eased off the inside for the backstretch run, chased under pressure past the five sixteenths, shifted out four wide for the drive and churned on. TOOLPUSHER bobbled at the break, lost ground four to six wide and had a belated response. NAME IT bobbled at the break, was lightly steadied off heels near the half, angled five wide for the drive but failed to muster up the needed kick. ELUSIVE IMAGE , with the pace four wide into and around the first turn, tapered in a bit and moved up to engage LIAM'S THE GREAT past the five eighths, took over around the far turn, edged away a bit then was confronted by the winner past the five sixteenths, failed to kick on past the three sixteenths and weakened. LIAM'S THE GREAT took over inside foes passing the wire the first time, cleared around the first turn and set the pace towards the inner rail, took pressure past the five eighths, relinquished command around the far turn, chased to the head of the stretch then retreated.
