FORMAL AFFAIR settled off the pace while three wide, angled out and was put to pressure around the turn, circled five wide with progression into the lane, sustained a grinding run while on his left lead and wore down ALEAH ALEAH in the final strides to prove best. ALEAH ALEAH , quickly went clear, was nursed along on the front end, was put to a drive two wide leaving the quarter pole, maintained a clear advantage past the furlong grounds, drifted out a bit in deep stretch, kept on gamely but just could not fend off the winner. SPEEDY ALEX saved ground, moved up under a hustling ride mid turn, eased out to have aim on the leader in upper stretch, gave hard chase past the furlong grounds, steadied behind the top pair in deep stretch then kept on trying to the wire. COCKTAILS AT NOON , unhurried early while saving ground, eased out and around a tiring rival around the turn, dropped back towards the rail to make a run near the three sixteenths but failed to follow through. BUOYANT pulled his way forward leaving the chute to be close, eased out approaching the three quarter pole and stalked, failed to kick on under pressure leaving the three eighths and tired.
