Footnotes
LATIN REBEL , snugly in hand along the inner rail down the backstretch, dueled to the far turn, went clear under confident handling turning for home and was under superfluous whipping in the drive. MAUPANSANT , three wide the first turn, raced in the three path at the head of the stretch and gamely rallied between rivals. BASIC MILES , rank and steadied on heels entering the first turn, swung to the four path leaving the far turn and had a slight rally. COUNTRY CHARLIE stalked the duel, was well placed entering the far turn and weakened in the stretch. BETTER WATCH IT , rated back approaching the first turn, stayed along the inner rail and failed to rally. KEEN SURGE , four wide the far turn, floated to the five path at the top of the lane and failed to menace. BOURBON OUTLAW , well back behind horses to the stretch, showed some late interest between rivals. YOUR MISSION , in tight quarters leaving the starting gate was well back down the backstretch, steadied on heels leaving the far turn and checked lacking room near the inner rail in mid stretch. BALANCE OF POWER stayed along the inner rail on the far turn and gave way. HEAVEN'S CHAMPION , four wide the first turn, dueled outside the winner and faltered the final furlong.
