MASAKADO , away alertly, took a slim lead inside horses around the first turn, handled some outer pressure then cleared past the five eighths, kicked away while nudged along past the three eighths, responded to right handed asks in upper stretch and steadily widened under pressure in the final furlong. HAY CHIEF broke a step slow, dropped inside and settled off the pace, picked up momentum two wide leaving the far turn, angled four wide with a continued advance into the stretch, chased outside MR. HUSTLE through the final sixteenth and edged that one for the place. MR. HUSTLE lost ground four wide when edging up past the five eighths, chased three wide into the lane then kept on willingly to the inside of HAY CHIEF while nipped for second. LIKEBELIVINGNMAGIC , forwardly placed into the first turn, rated back off the leaders then stalked three wide between runners into the far turn, chased three to four wide into the lane, shifted in some then went evenly in the final seventy yards. RUNNING RIVER , three wide to contention, pressed the winner into the backstretch, stayed on to chase leaving the half, saved ground past the five sixteenths and faded. ENERGY EFFICIENT , taken to rate and angled in early, saved ground into the far turn, lacked a kick soon after and faltered. RETWEET flashed speed then saved ground stalking the pace, remained forward to the far turn then tired. B DAWK , off slowly, ducked out sharply soon after then was pulled up and walked off. There was a stewards' inquiry into the start of B DAWK. No action was deemed necessary.
