RHODES came out leaving the starting gate, dueled outside VIDA around the turn, asserted himself in upper stretch, was under urging and drew away. CLOSE THE GATE lacked speed, hugged the inner rail leaving the backstretch, moved to the two path on the turn, was behind horses in mid stretch, altered course to the outside near the sixteenth pole and rallied. VIDA showed speed, hugged the inner rail dueling with the winner and weakened late. CALL ME VICTORIOUS , forced out at the start, was well back leaving the backstretch, came into the stretch in the two path and failed to menace. FLATTER MY DAD a forward factor along the inner rail around the turn weakened. J J PACHECO circled the turn three wide, drifted out entering the stretch and gave way. BEAUTIFUL QUALITY broke slowly, stayed wide on the turn and was not a factor.
