RUNNING POINT showed good speed from the outside post to gain the lead midway through the first turn, opened up a huge gap back to the rest on the run down the backstretch, started to shorten strides in the final yards, but held on. BINARY CODE was the inside horse in the second flight, had aim on the runaway leader turning into the stretch, had a little trouble keeping a straight course in upper stretch, closed in but was too late. GRIND JIM took back after the start and was content to settle at the back, made a three-wide bid into the stretch, and finished well to miss the second spot. JUST BERNIE raced in the third flight for the first half, launched a bid with three furlongs to run, and was closing, but unable to crack the top three. ROCKY ROCK IT lagged through the early stages, came three-wide into the stretch and was mildly gaining in the late stages but never a serious threat. TAP TO CONNECT settled near the back and lacked a finish. WHISKEY OVER ICE got pinched back at the start and was the distant trailer going into the far turn, tried to rally, but only managed to pass a couple of tired foes. ROMAN EAGLE got away well, tracked three-wide in the tracking group behind the runaway leader, weakened on the far turn and had little to give in the stretch. CAUSE IM THE KING raced at the midpoint of the strung-out field, then lacked any interest in the late stages.
