Footnotes
BLAZING SABER roused to the early lead, set a slow pace for the first quarter, yielded the lead to AIR OF GHURAIR early on the backstretch run, remained in a tracking position to the far turn, responded when asked to go after that rival leaving the three-furlong pole, took command in upper stretch, and went clear to the finish. MUCHO MACHO CAM was sent hard from the start to get forward position, had to be pushed on to keep pace, but still dropped to the back of the field, swung out four-wide into the stretch, and made a grinding advance to be along for the place. CONFIDING was four-wide through the clubhouse turn, continued down the backstretch, got an inside trip through the far turn, and churned on through the stretch. AIR OF GHURAIR broke very slowly, then pulled forward through the field to gain the lead last the five-furlong pole, maintained a clear advantage to the far turn, tried to fight back when challenged by BLAZING SABER near the quarter pole, then weakened. CITIZEN BARRETT got floated five-wide into the first turn, continued to race wide the rest of the trip, and tired.
