Footnotes
BONFIGLIO hopped at the start, moved briskly through the field on the backstretch run to make the lead before the far turn, was in full command at the top of the stretch, then held off a late bid from MCGINNIS in the final yards. MCGINNIS raced close up two-wide, followed BONFIGLIO into the far turn, chased gamely down the stretch, could not reel in that rival but finished well clear of the next horse. RAVEN AND OAK settled inside with the back half of the field early, came out to the three-path on the far turn, finished with some interest to gain the third spot but never a threat to the top two. OBAN raced three-wide throughout and finished with mild interest. EL CHAVO tracked behind the pace to the far turn, then was outfinished in the late stages. FOLLOW THE STAR hustled away to vie three-wide for the lead into the first turn, dueled outside of SIR TOM down the backstretch, left that rival behind leaving the three-furlong pole, briefly led near the three-furlong pole but was overtaken by BONFIGLIO, tried to battle back into the stretch but weakened in the final furlong and faded. COASTAL WARRIOR got caught four-wide on the clubhouse turn, tracked in the middle of the field, lost ground on the far turn, and did not have a finishing kick. GOOD NIGHT AMERICA brought up the rear to the far turn, then passed tired foes in the stretch. . ESSENTIAL STORM came under early cropping after leaving the gate, settled in mid-pack two or three paths off the rail, then dropped off the pace passing the three-furlong pole and was not a factor in the late stages. SIR TOM dueled to the inside of FOLLOW THE STAR, weakened with three furlongs to run, and had little to offer in the stretch.
