BELMIRA tracked the early pace close up on the inside of another rival, moved to challenge the leader midway through the far turn, lugged in from the top of the stretch, but managed to strighten and edge clear late. STRIKE THE BELL had good speed from the outside post and made the front before the first turn, was left alone to dictate the pace through the first half mile, fought back when confronted by BELMIRA on the far turn, dueled that rival into the stretch, then yielded in the final furlong while remaining well clear of the next finisher. GOLD MAKIN GIRL came away awkwardly at the start, was kept in the back through the early running, started a forward move going into the far turn, circled the field four-wide, and stayed on well to gain the minor award. CARLY'S SHANCE saved ground near the back, then made a belated rally up the rail in the stretch. CODE OF THE SOUTH setted two wide in the middle of the field, finished with some interest but lacked a late kick. PRONUNCIATION raced three-wide throughout and finished evenly. REAL MISCHIEVOUS was slow into stride, settled three-wide near the rear, but did not threaten. DIG BABY DIG tracked the pace two-deep to the far turn, then was unable to kick on in the stretch and was outfinished. MIGHTY ENTICING raced in mid-pack for a half-mile, started to move forward while under a drive late on the backstretch run, but stalled midway through the far turn and tired/. MRS SHIRLEY took up sharply in traffic before the first turn, settled near the back three-wide, dropped to last before the far turn, and came up empty in the late stages.
