Footnotes
SWEET RETREAT tracked close up along the rail, bided time to the far turn, became boxed in through the far turn and into upper stretch, but got clear late and surged to the front to prevail. FINAL WAR raced two-deep not far off the pace, advanced late on the turn to bid three-wide at the top of the stretch, then finished well but was outkicked by the winner. SPECTACLE broke well, tracked the pace two-wide coming out of the first turn, loomed as a big threat in the upper stretch, flattened out in the final yards but finished well enough to take the minor award. RUNNING POINT broke well, then seized the early advantage before the first turn, led the way to the far turn, got first run into the stretch before being confronted by a host of challengers, then yielded the lead inside the sixteenth marker. C. P. A. JIM was allowed to settle early, then was mildly gaining in the stretch run. ESSENTIAL TIME saved ground, came four-wide for the stretch run, and kept pace late but could not improve. SCOUSER was two-wide in the middle of the field, then had no late response. C W DAZZLE raced to the outside of WOLF TOOTH at the back, and failed to rally. WOLF TOOTH missed the break then settled in last early on, and never offered a rally.
