ESSAY close up to the early pace, stalked from the three path into the turn, took command past the quarter marker, shook free of HEZAKOOLKAT to upper stretch then kicked clear into the final furlong, drew off into the final sixteenth, ridden out late to win as much the best. HEZAKOOLKAT sent for the early lead, assumed command then set the pace from off of the rail heading into the turn, carved out moderate fractions nearing the quarter marker, overtaken by ESSAY into the stretch, was no match for the winner into the final sixteenth but bested the rest. TEAM GORMLEY forwardly placed early on, tracked the moderate pace from the four path into the turn, needed more into the stretch drive, could not keep pace with the leading pair into the final furlong but was clear in the end for third. VIETNAM VICTORY close up to the early pace then took back, well placed while saving ground into the turn, kept an inside path to the stretch, no late response. CARBON STRYKER hopped at the start and spotted the field to begin, trailed to the turn, lacked a response into upper stretch, no factor late.
