Footnotes
HONOR AND FIRE sent for the early lead, showed good speed and vied inside of a pair of rivals along the backstretch, engaged with ITTY BITTY BABY heading into the turn, dueled inside of that rival while disputing solid fractions to the quarter pole, responded well into the stretch then dug in into the final furlong, drifted a bit under firm left hand urging in deep stretch, was unyielding to the wire and held for a determined win. ITTY BITTY BABY hustled from the gate, contested the early pace from between foes, engaged with HONOR AND FIRE and dueled outside of that foe heading into the turn, disputed a solid pace two wide nearing the quarter, fought gamely into the stretch, got crowded a bit by the drifting HONOR AND FIRE into the final sixteenth, could not get by the determined winner late and held safely for second. TIMELESS LOVE broke a step slowly, settled in the second flight to begin and was well placed while saving ground along the backstretch, chased from the inside heading to the quarter, ran in pursuit into the lane then tipped out three wide at mid-stretch, closed willingly in the final sixteenth but could not reel in the leading pair late and was a clear third. REDRIVER STORM hopped at the start and was last away from the gate, advanced between rivals in the early stages, tracked from the second flight and two wide into the turn, caught a bit in tight nearing the quarter pole, swung four wide to upper stretch, ran in pursuit while widest through the lane, could not find more to deep stretch and was outkicked late. DEMOTION away in good order, vied for the early lead while three deep, took back and stalked the dueling pacesetters three wide into the turn, gave chase into upper stretch, lacked the needed response at the furlong marker and flattened out late. PIRULITA settled in the second flight and outside of rivals in the early going, coaxed three then two wide nearing the quarter marker, lacked the needed response into upper stretch and finished evenly. GOLDEN PELICAN unhurried, saved ground into the turn, kept an inside path to the stretch and failed to threaten late. PAROLA SICURA shuffled back at the start, settled two wide to the turn, trailed to upper stretch and did not factor.
