BRILLIANT SPIN settled inside in mid-pack, came out four-wide into the stretch wore down a stubborn PINEHURST (IRE) in the final yards and edged ahead in the closing strides. PINEHURST (IRE) hopped start, dueled to the outside of MOON FACTOR to the three-furlong pole, took over the lead at that point, turned back all challengers in upper stretch, drifted out in mid-stretch, and was outfinished by the winner. ARIES HONOR raced mid-pack three-wide, came out five-wide for the stretch run, was slowly gaining ground in the closing stages but ran out of time. MONEYSTRIKE tracked the dueling leaders three-wide, was involved in the late stages until forced to take up in deep stretch and lost any chance. PONTOTOC hopped at the start, settled at the back of the pack, finished well, but was not doing enough late to pose a threat. MOON FACTOR hustled away to gain the early advantage, dueled with PINEHURST (IRE) through the early stages, gave way on the far, but kept trying to the wire. CLEMENTS RIDE lunged at the start, raced in the two-path at the back and was outkicked from midway on the far turn. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE STRETCH RUN, ALSO THE JOCKEY ON #6 MONEYSTRIKE LODGED AN OBJECTION AGAINST #8 PINEHURST (IRE) ALLEGING INTERFERENCE IN THE STRETCH. AFTER A REVIEW, THE OBJECTION WAS UPHELD AND #8 PINEHURST (IRE) WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM SECOND AND PLACED FOURTH.
