Footnotes
QUARTERLY REPORT allowed to settle in the early running, bid between rivals nearing the quarter marker, rallied four wide to upper stretch then was full of run to the furlong marker, took command and drew away to the final sixteenth, coasted while in hand in deep stretch. RED MOUNTAIN settled in the second flight and between rivals, tracked the pace along the backstretch then roused three wide into the far turn, vied to upper stretch then led briefly nearing the furlong grounds, was no match late for the winner, held well for second in the final stages. SHOGUN BE FAST broke out at the start and crowded outer rival, close up to the early pace, stalked the modest pace to the half-mile, dueled into the far turn then took command nearing the quarter marker, overtaken into upper stretch, fought on to the final sixteenth, was outfinished for second and just held for third at the wire. ILLUSTRATOR broke alertly then rated off of the early speed, coaxed two wide into the far turn and gained ground at the quarter marker, ran in pursuit to mid-stretch, lacked the needed late response and just missed for the minor awards. CITY OF ANGELS settled in the early stages then caught a bit in tight into the first turn, rated to the backstretch run, navigated traffic while four to five wide into the far turn, swung six wide to upper stretch, lugged in while on the left lead into the lane, flattened out late. NOW AND LATER crowded at the start, settled while widest into the first turn, took back then trailed to the half-mile, coaxed from the two path to the quarter marker, gained ground between foes to upper stretch then was bottled up into the final furlong, made a mild late rally, no threat late. ETERNALLY GRATEFUL bobbled then broke out at the start and off slowly, settled to the first turn then made a four wide move to the backstretch, stalked the pace into the far turn, ran in pursuit five wide to upper stretch, got crowded a bit nearing the furlong pole, gave way in the lane. MACHO GRANDE forwardly placed to the first turn, took back and tracked from the second flight and outside of rivals, chased three wide into the far turn, lost ground nearing the quarter pole, weakened in the stretch. COASTAL BRINK away in good order and hustled for the early lead, took command and set a modest pace to the backstretch, dueled from the inside into the far turn, overtaken to upper stretch, faded in the drive. BANDERA BLING broke in a bit at the start and crowded inner rival, prominent to the first turn, was well placed while saving ground into the backstretch, saved all of the ground to the far turn, caught in traffic nearing the top of the lane, lacked the needed response to mid-stretch, was not persevered with late.
