CAMPFIRE CREED was the inside horse in a four-way early speed battle, backed off a bit on the turn, then re-bid leaving the quarter pole, was the middle horse as five fanned out across the track turning for home, got first run and kept a foe at bay through the final furlong while lugging out. I'M WIDE AWAKE tracked just behind the pace battle under some restraint, came out five-wide for the stretch run, finished up well, but could not close the gap on the winner. RUNHAPPY D'ORO pressed the pace four-wide, got a head in front passing the quarter pole, but could not sustain the bid into the stretch and flattened in the final stages. FLEETRIDGE was pushed from the start to get a forward position, vied four-deep in the early running, vied between horses late on the turn, then was outfinished in the final furlong. MORO MAFIA was outpaced early and was the back marker down the backstretch, moved over to the inside for the run through the turn, came out four to five wide for the stretch run, but did not produce the needed response. TED was part of the early pace scramble, maintained a forward position to the top of the stretch, then weakened. BIG EFFECT raced three wide and did not appear comfortable at any point in the contest.
