PASSION D ORO settled at the back of the tightly packed field, bided time three-wide early on, never far from the front, advanced to join the leaders past the half-mile pole, made a three-wide bid for the lead at the quarter pole, gained the advantage witn the furlong to go and held clear despite racing on the wrong lead through the lane. CARL ERSKINE moved up after turning donw the backstretch to put pressure on KOCHAN on the lead, got the better of that one turning for home, took a short lead in upper stretch but yielded late to the winner. KOCHAN hustled to the lead and atttempted to slow down the pace, got some pressure down the backstretch from CARL ERSKINE, came under pressure leaving the quarter pole, and weakened in the stretch. I AM ON THE LIST was three-wide in the tracking group, came under a ride midway through the turn, and finished evenly. ENDUE settled in a pocket behind the pacesetters, dropped back a bit as they quickened the pace, came out four-wide for the stretch run, but was unable to make up any ground int he stretch. ESSENTIAL STORM took a light bump after the break, then was allowed to settle early and was the inside horse of the trio at the back of the field, started to struggle to keep pace as the field went into the far turn, came four-wide into the stretch, and was unable to generate much of a finish.
