Footnotes
CLASSIC MOMENT was fractious in the gate before the start, pressed the pace to the outside of ORE MINE, went to the lead at the top of the stretch, and went clear to the wire under steady handling. THAT'S RIGHT hustled up after breaking a step slow to the press the leaders, bided time along the rail without a clear path, tipped out to the three-path for the stretch run, finished well, but could not close the gap on the winner. ORE MINE was sent forward from the break, contested the early pace with CLASSIC MOMENT, battled back when confronted by that rival at the quarter pole, could not go on with that rival in the final furlong, but kept trying to the finish. PRINCE LANCELOT (GB) hesitated at the start, chased the field down the backstretch, then ran on some late to improve position. HELLADIC raced in mid-pack and a bit keen early, came out three-wide into the stretch and finished evenly while never a serious threat. OOEY GOOEY CHEWY settled in the back half of the field and did not offer a late bid. ESSAY raced close up three to four wide but was unable to rally. GABARRA outpaced early, failed to rally. VORPAL raced three-wide in mid-pack, weakened, and dropped to last midway through the turn.
