FLYING DRUMMER Inherited the early lead and attempted to slow down the pace, maintained a narrow lead through the turn, then had something in reserve when confronted by challengers near the quarter pole, and gamely held firm through the stretch under steady handling. PERFECT PRANKSTER broke well but ceded the front and stalked the pace two-wide under a stout hold, pulled even and challenged for the lead between rivals at the quarter pole, had every chance to get by FLYING DRUMMER in the stretch but was unable to get by that rival and had to settle for the place. GUNFLASH raced close up but three to four wide, ranged up three-wide at the quarter pole in a bid for the lead but was outfinished. UNLOAD was stuck in the middle of the pack surrounded by rivals, had no choice but to wait for room through the turn, tipped out to the four-path in the stretch, but was outkicked when clear. CHASING TIME settled in mid-pack, came out three wide for the stretch run, but was unable to improve. CITY OF ANGELS rushed up into traffic in the initial furlong and had to steady, backed off, then moved right back to the middle of the pack, was without a clear path racing three-wide through the turn, and finished evenly. CAT GAMER saved ground while racing mid-pack through the early stages, then lacked a finish.
