Footnotes
BENDER came away well, then ceded the front while staying three-wide in the clear, was never far back owing to the slow pace, ranged up four-wide late on the far turn, got first run at the top of the stretch, and edged clear in the final furlong. SCHIFTY'S HALOID was not asked for speed from the break, angled over to the rail before the first bend, settled at the back for the first half-mile, started to move forward heading into the turn, was set down approaching the three-furlong pole, and responded with a four-wide bid into the stretch, and outfinished all but the winner. SPECIAL MOMENT stalked the pace two-deep despite the slow fractions, bid for the lead approaching the quarter pole, finished willingly but was not quite good enough. BATTLE STRIKE saved ground close up behind the leaders, waited for room through the far turn, then was outkicked in the stretch and unable to threaten. JOLLY SAMURAI seized the early lead and slowed the pace to a crawl, led the compact field to the half, then quickened the pace with a trio in hot pursuit, had something for the drive but was outkicked in the late stages. DARYL'S BOLT got caught four-wide on the first turn, settled in mid-pack down the backstretch, moved up to press the pace three-deep at the quarter pole, backed off a bit late on the turn, then steadied sharply near the quarter pole, and was unable to recover momentum.
