Footnotes
SPEAKING OF ART close up to the early pace, went up to stalk the leading pair three deep along the backstretch, vied for the lead into the far turn then battled GOLD MESA to upper stretch, put away that foe into the final furlong, drew clear to the final sixteenth and held safely over the runner-up. FIND THE LIGHT forwardly placed early on then caught a bit in tight to the first turn, settled in the second flight and between rivals into the backstretch, got in a bit of traffic at the three-eighths pole, shifted to the three path to upper stretch, couldn't make headway on the winner late but stayed on to be a clear second. GOLD MESA broke alertly, vied for the early lead then contested modest fractions into the backstretch, dug in when confronted nearing the quarter marker, yielded to the winner into the final furlong, was overtaken late for the place honors and saved the show at the finish. KNOTTY KITTY took back into the first turn, settled in the second flight and three wide heading into the backstretch, lost position into the far turn, swung out and was three to four wide to upper stretch, mildly re-bid in deep stretch and just missed for the show. CHIP ALTERNATIVE settled and saved ground early on, saved ground while well placed along the backstretch, dropped back along the far turn, re-bid two wide to upper stretch but couldn't find more in the final stages. THOUSAND WINS broke a bit slowly then settled outside of rivals heading into the first turn, was widest while tracking from the second flight along the backstretch, gave chase to the quarter marker, could not keep pace to upper stretch then weakened in the final stages. GAMBLING DEN broke a bit awkwardly but went up to contest the early pace, contested modest fractions to the half-mile, gave way along the far turn, trailed to upper stretch and had little left for the drive.
