Footnotes
VICTORY FOR VETS forwardly placed while between horses up the backstretch, continued in traffic into the turn, lost some position through the bend as a result, roused and got through into upper stretch, proved best under firm handling. TX CODE also close up while between rivals, moved up to challenge three wide into the lane, put a head in front and showed the way past while drifting, lost irons, could not contain the winner late while holding the place. DUST EM back off the pace and the inside, loomed a threat while four wide turning into the stretch, flattened out to hang up a bit late, outkicked for the second spot despite the runner up's rider losing his irons. RAISE THE BAR moved up along the inside with an early move, vied through the turn, weakened in the drive. ZAVALA back off the pace out in the strip, four to five wide through the turn, improved position with some late interest. ESSAY dueled up front off the inside, angled in as bit but was still three wide into the turn, gained a slightly advantage after a half but faltered in the drive. CHAMPAGNE STOOPER last away, trailed most of the way in failing to threaten. TOM SAWYER pressed in the five path up the backstretch, four wide when still with the first flight early turn, began to give way soon after.
