RED HEAD ITALIAN showed good early speed to clear the field, dueled inside on the turn, responded when roused, shook free at the eighth pole and drew clear under urging. ONE FINE WINE chased the pace, bid two wide on the turn, dueled with the winner, dug in gamely outside and came up second best. ROCK THE RAINBOW raced off the pace, advanced four wide on the turn and rallied mildly for third. RICHIE'S VALENTINE was bumped at the start, chased between rivals, chased on the turn and finished evenly inside. PURPLE LU LU was off slowly and steadied, outrun early and closed belatedly on the rail. SLICK MERLIN was bumped at the start, chased three wide, chased on the turn and tired. GOLDEN RING chased outside early on, then between rivals on the turn, came two wide into the lane and lacked a rally. LIDIA ROSE was bumped at the start, chased four wide, then three wide on the turn and faded. CASSIE'S VAULT chased inside and gave way on the turn.
