RUN HAPPY PAPPY set the pace on the inside, showed the way on the far turn, responded when roused at the top of the lane, pulled away under urging, widened and was ridden out. CURLIN GUNNER raced three wide on the first turn, then stalked outside, chased the winner on the far turn, was no match for that rival and remained clear for place honors. STRONG LIGHT was off slowly, outrun early, moved up two wide on the backside, chased three wide on the far turn and lacked a stretch rally. AINT NO JOKE stalked the early pace, then tracked on the inside, chased inside on the far turn and weakened. MAGICAL ROAD raced off the pace inside, was asked on the far turn and lacked a response. THREE CAPTAINS was moving just prior to the gate opening, reared up badly at the start and lost the rider, then walked off. After a Stewards' Inquiry into the start, the race was declared official.
