WILL TAKE IT off a step slow, moved up after angling to the inside early, tapped on the brakes briefly along the inside first turn when in a bit tight, continued to stalk up the backstretch, raced behind the leader in the two path into the far turn, inched closer turning for home after dropping to the rail, lodged a bid inside the pacesetter with a furlong to run, came out slightly to brush with that one under a left handed crop then dug in gamely to narrowly prevail at the wire. WOODCOURT away in good order, showed the way while inside, rated throughout some moderate early fractions, continued on the engine through the final bend and into the lane, responded when challenged from both sides when straightened for home, brushed with the winner repeatedly the final furlong, proved stubborn to the end to also display good late mettle. AMERICAN LAW raced in the second flight while off the inside, remained in a striking position the middle half. SPEED KING prompted the runner up from the outside for six furlongs off the inside, moved on that rival turning for home, vied three wide past the furlong marker then faltered in the late going to lose the show late. THOUGHTTHATCOUNTS broke back, continued to lack speed in trailing throughout, never a factor. FOLLOWING A CLAIM OF FOUL BY THE RIDER OF WOODCOURT AGAINST THE WINNER FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE THROUGH THE STRETCH, THE RESULT WAS ALLOWED TO STAND.
