EXPECT THE BEST stalked in the three path up the backstretch, ranged up around the far turn to bid under coaxing passing the quarter, bumped with the inner pacesetter from the four path at the top of the lane, took command passing the furlong grounds, and kicked clear. PIKE PLACE trailed from the three path turning into the backstretch, improved from the four path around the far turn, and ran on in the six path down the stretch for place. MORUNNING drew clear around the first turn to set an uncontested pace in the two path up the backstretch, came under pressure as the outer eventual winner moved up to challenge approaching the quarter, bumped with that foe while in the three path at the top of the stretch, surrendered the lead passing the furlong grounds, and faded in the final sixteenth to show. CAROLO RAPIDO had a slow start, was wellback in the two path, ridden along the inside around the far turn, split foes in the two path passing the quarter, but flattened from the four path in the final furlong. CREATIVE MINISTER rated in the four path, was pushed along from the three path around the far turn, drifted out down the lane, and made no impact. SARA'S SHAMAN tracked in the two path, was roused midway around the far turn, but gave way along the inside in the stretch. UNCLE CAESAR dropped well behind in the five path up the backstretch and was never involved.
