Footnotes
DESERT GATE showed the way from off the rail turning into the backstretch, came under a ride early around the far turn, and kicked away from the two path down the shortened lane to be much the best. SOLDIER N DIPLOMAT laid up close in the three path, was coaxed along in the two path around the far turn, lost touch with the winning pacesetter from the four path in upper stretch, evened out in the final furlong, but was clearly second best. RACE READY rated in the three path, was ridden around the far turn, floated out to the six path entering the lane, did not threaten the top two, but got the show bob. TOP LEVEL chased in the four path up the backstretch, tipped into the two path while being nibbled along early around the far turn, but weakened.
