Footnotes
TREBLE CLEF settled in midpack from the three path up the backstretch, waited in the two path around the far turn, was roused passing the quarter, kicked on to bid inside of the leader passing the furlong grounds, and inched ahead in the closing stages. THE THUNDERER laid up close in the three path up the backstretch, vied for the lead while in hand passing the three-eighths pole, asserted command midway around the far turn, dug in gamely while trying to fend off an inner challenger thru the final furlong, but got edged out by that tone in the closing stages. GASOLINE was wellback in the three path, coaxed along between rivals into the far turn, angled out passing the quarter, floated from the eight path into the stretch, and kept for show. MOWINS stalked in the four path up the backstretch, ranged up under coaxing midway around the far turn, swung from the five path into the stretch, but finished evenly. ICARUS rated in the two path, waited around the far turn, before getting cued from the three path passing the quarter, but made no impact. HERO'S MEDAL chased inside, was ridden in the two path around the far turn, but made no closing bid. GLOBAL EMPIRE chased in the two path, was driven from the rail around the far turn, but did not threaten. EASTSIDE COOL dictated the pace in the two path up the backstretch, was roused from the rail midway around the far turn, but gave way in the stretch. HOPPIN JOHN was wellback in the five path, ridden around the far turn, was empty at the top of the lane, sustained an injury and lost the rider before the eighth pole, and was transported off of the track in an equine ambulance.
