QUEEN MALLARD broke with the field despite bobbling, raced forwardly past the wire the first time, prompted the issue from the outside, took over late in the final turn, shook well clear when straightened for home, continued to hold a comfortable advantage past the furlong marker, enough left to hold the runner up safe in the final strides. GOLD STRATEGY back off the pace and the inside, moved out, four wide far turn, angled in through that bend, steered back out when rallying from between rivals past midstretch, finished willingly to be closing the gap on the winner. PRINCIPAL ANITA in mid pack and in tight when bothered a bit by NGALA in the first turn, raced unhurried up the backstretch, closer in the two path final turn, chased the winner upper stretch, floated out a bit by the runner up with a furlong remaining and finished up best of the rest. WOODRUFF broke back, raced in mid pack and outside, floated out six wide turning for home then went evenly to the wire. LADY ASTRID four wide and off the pace into the first turn, went one paced the middle half, three wide into the lane, improved position with some mild late interest. LADY WOOPIG off step slow, moved up steadily the opening furlong then settled off the pace while well out in the strip, crept a bit closer when five then six wide into the lane, flattened out in the run to the wire. C. C. HARBOR also off a step slow, raced well back early in trailing, saved ground while continuing inside in the second turn. STREET PAINTER away in good order, showed the way into the first turn toward the inside, continued to set the pace while saving ground the middle half, offered brief resistance when the winner came alongside in the final turn then began to falter when headed. MELANIA T lacked speed after breaking in good order, raced back and in the two path, failed to menace. STEPHANIE STARFISH in the second flight while three wide for six furlongs, gave way when the real running began turning for home. Y CITY lacked while three wide first turn, moved inside for the second bend, never a factor. NGALA in the second flight early just off the rail, tried to get out through much of the first turn then began a steady fade before a half.
