CAPITAL CONNECTION stalked out in the five path, ranged up under coaxing to bid from the four path passing the quarter, inch ahead passing the furlong grounds, and kicked on to edge clear late. FIFTH AVENUE bumped with an inner foe at the start, laid up close outside of the pacesetter in the four path, bid under a ride between foes in the three path midway around the turn, ran on to sustain that bid into the final furlong, but got out-finished by the outer winner to place. DERBY DATE hopped at the start and bumped with an outer foe, was wellback in the two path, roused midway around the turn, floated out to the five path in upper stretch, and got up for show late. TOP GUN TOMMY dictated the pace from out in the three path, was cued from the two path passing the three-eighths pole, fought on in upper stretch, but yielded in the final furlong. JUILLIARD laid off the pace inside, came under a ride along the rail passing the three-eighths pole, but weakened. SUTHERLAND hopped and hit the gate at the start, then trailed throughout.
