GREEN ZONE went to the front from the rail position, met the bid from DANIZ TIL DAWN with three furlongs remaining, came off the fence a bit at the top of the lane, turned DANSIG TIL DAWN away outside the eighth pole but was quickly contronted by FRENCH MOONLIGHT, drifted in and crowded that rival in the late stages and was able to hold. FRENCH MOONLIGHT raced keenly in hand along the inside on the first turn, moved into striking distance on the backstretch, saved ground through the far turn, challenged GREEN ZONE from the rail past the eighth pole, got put in tight by that rival drifting over and kept on gamely to the wire. SUNTORY TIME broke a step slow, trailed early on the inside, had one rival beat turning for home, steered out in upper stretch, closed well through the final furlong and missed second. TIS SUNRISE traveled in the two path near the back, entered the lane under right handed encouragement, moved out in upper stretch, put in a late run but ran out of ground. BENSTER settled in the two path, moved out in the lane and lacked the needed late kick. MPERFECTION reserved next to the fence in the early going, coaxed along into the far turn, saved ground to the stretch and lacked a rally. DANZIG TIL DAWN was closest in pursuit from the two path early, challenged from outside at the three-eighths pole, fought to the top of the lane, then tired in the final furlong. WARM RECEPTION raced in the three path from the middle of the pack, stayed off the rail to the stretch and failed to menace. SASAFRAN raced keenly in hand early and moved into the two path, started to weaken and dropped back on the far turn, eased in the lane and walked off. THERE AN INQUIRY INVOLVING THE STRETCH RUN GREEN ZONE AND FRENCE MOONLIGHT. THE JOCKEY ABOARD FRENCH MOONLIGHT ALSO LODGED A CLAIM OF FOUL AGAINST THE RIDER OF GREEN ZONE FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE LATE IN THE RACE. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS UNANIMOUSLY RULED THAT ALTHOUGH GREEN ZONE DID DRIFT IN AND PUT FRENCH MOONLIGHT IN TIGHT QUARTERS, THE INCIDENT DID NOT WARRANT A DISQUALIFICATION AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
