SPECIAL CLUB trailed on the inside into the turn, ridden along the fence around the bend, tipped out and had to pause when boxed briefly in upper stretch, angled out and bumped GOLD COUNCIL midstretch, finished determinedly between runners and got up. GOLD COUNCIL traced the speed from the two path, came under a ride on the turn, steered out in upper stretch, took a bump from SPECIAL CLUB midstretch, closed in tandem with that rival was edged at the wire. BRO BRO bobbled leaving the gate, stalked two wide into the turn, ridden along into the lane, moved out for a clear run, took over briefly late but was outkicked by the top pair in the end. GRAZED took control on the inside, headed on the turn, inched ahead in upper stretch, put JAGUAR JON away midstretch but got run down by the top trio. JAGUAR JON pressed the pace from outside, moved up on even terms around the bend, then weakened in the final furlong. JETOVATOR chased from inside to the lane, moved out then came back to the fence and weakened. OTRO MAS stumbled crossing onto the dirt and lost the rider, eventually caught by the outrider and walked off. THERE WAS AN INQUIRY INVOLVING THE STRETCH RUN BETWEEN SPECIAL CLUB AND GOLD COUNCIL. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS RULED IN A MAJORITY DECISION THAT ALTHOUGHT SPECIAL CLUB DID COME AND MAKE CONTACT WITH GOLD COUNCIL, THE INCIDENT DID NOT WARRANT A DISQUALIFICATION.
