CONTRARY CHIEFTAIN showed the way inside MOTHER'S PRAYER early, cleared that rival at the seven-sixteenths pole, padded the lead in upper stretch, then drew off under a tap of the right hand and was ridden out through the late stages. ALPINE THUNDER chased between rivals before getting bump and checking into the first turn, went three then two wide around the bend, raced on the inside into the second bend, shifted to the two path while losing ground, tipped out in the lane and ran on for second. MOTHER'S PRAYER pressed from outside, lost touch with the winner into the far turn, chased two to three wide around that bend and flattened to third. NORTHERN QUEST tracked from inside, trailed at the midway point, passed a rival early on the far turn, eased over to the two path and passed tired rivals down the lane. SMARTY NOSE bumped while four wide into the first turn, chased two then three wide on the second bend and faded in the lane. AUTISM PUZZLE broke a step slow, trailed two to three wide early, gained widest up the backstretch, lost ground three then four wide on the far turn and had little left for the stretch. UNION WAVE chased three wide around the clubhouse turn, between rivals on the backstretch, dropped back and eased on the far turn, pulled up at the top of the lane and was transported off the track via equine ambulance.
