MAURY WILLS broke a step slow, stalked three deep into the turn, bid outside the top pair with a quarter mile remaining, battled while leaning inward through the lane and dug in to edge rivals on both sides. BIG BILL raced up close on the inside, put in a rail bid past the eighth pole, dug in late only to miss. LITTLE RAYMOND had to take up crossing back onto the turf, raced outside a rival at the back, saved ground on the fence around the bend, steered out at the top of the lane, rallied four deep late and ran out of ground. JUST A GRAZE sprinted to the front and steered over to the inside, challenged by ROXIIESBADBOY up the backstretch, dueled through the turn then vied with outer pair late on the bend, resisted into deep stretch over rivals on both sides but yielded grudgingly in the end. HIGH KING traveled three deep at the back then went two wide into the turn, angled four wide approaching the stretch, kept on through the lane but could not threaten. OMNIFICENT dropped back and angled in early, trailed inside rivals then saved ground through the turn and was never a factor. ROXIIESBADBOY had to steady a bit early, moved up to challenge for command from outside, vied between rivals past the quarter pole, then gave way in the lane. MAUL raced up close between rivals then had to pause when JUST A GRAZE came over early, chased between runners into the turn, rounded the bend two then three wide and faded.
