SIR PERCIVAL was closest in pursuit from the rail then the two path early, challenged from outside with three furlongs remaining, cleared STRAIGHT UP COUNTRY around the bend and held safely under a drive to the wire. WARM SUN AND BREW brushed leaving the gate, tracked near the fence then in the two path, continued to give chase two wide around the far turn, angled to the inside in the lane, could not get to the winner but was able to secure second. HIGHPLAINSDRIFTER allowed to settle on the inside in the early going, picked up stride on the backstretch, tipped two wide past the five-sixteenths pole, moved in then drifted back out late and finished willingly to earn third. FREEPORT JOE was rank in the early and took the first turn three then two wide, moved out on the backstretch, rounded the far turn four then three wide, got floated out late and could not rally when called upon. SPEED OF ELON laid off the pace two wide then along the rail, trailed midway around the far turn still next to the fence, moved out at the top of the lane and never threatened. CARDIFF CRACK trailed on the inside, raced outside a rival still at the back into the far turn, angled out and came four wide into the stretch but failed to menace. STRAIT UP COUNTRY grabbed the lead and showed the way in the two path into the first turn, angled over to the inside, challenged from outside at the three-eighths pole, drifted out a bit and relinquished the lead at the five-sixteenths pole, then folded in the drive.
