Footnotes
PLUTARCH vied between rivals to the half-mile pole, dueled into and around the far turn, inched ahead of INTREPIDO in upper stretch, asked left handed at the eighth pole, then switched to the right hand and maintained a short advantage under strong handling to the wire. INTREPIDO fought for command inside rivals to the midway point, fought head to head inside PLUTARCH leaving the backstretch and around the far turn, fought on from the fence through the lane but had to settle for second best. SECURED FREEDOM followed in range from the four path around the clubhouse turn, remained wide up the backstretch chased four deep into the second bend, driven three wide into the lane and was able to edge DESERT GATE for the show honors. DESERT GATE shifted out leaving the gate, stalked the leaders from inside, came under a ride still on the fence around the far turn, moved out in upper stretch but failed to produce a bid and got nailed for third. CHEROKEE NATION got crowded shortly after the start, stalked in the three path on the clubhouse turn, chased between rivals leaving the backstretch, rounded the far turn in the two path and weakened. ROBUSTA raced up close outside the top trio, pressed up the backstretch, went three deep into the far turn, could not kick on with the top pair approaching the quarter pole and weakened down the lane. BRIGGS ARMYPOWER vied three deep to the half-mile pole, failed to keep up into the far turn, dropped back around the bend, eased in the lane and walked off.
