THE LAST STRAW was closest in pursuit up the backstretch, rounded the bend in the two path, bid from outside entering the lane, put a head in front at the eighth pole and drew away under hand urging. CALL ME CORY established the front quickly, led along the inside through the turn, pressured by THE LAST STRAW coming into the stretch, lost command at the eighth pole, was no match for the winner in the final furlong but stayed on to hold second. SILENT WAY broke a step slow and inward, chased from inside to the lane, angled off the fence in the drive and failed to produce a bid. ONE MORE TIME steadied when losing a clear path then started to climb early, saved ground at the back around the bend and failed to threaten. SILVER ICE chased out of range of the pacesetter in the early going, lost ground in the two path on the turn and was never a factor.
