ALPINE THUNDER vied between rivals up the backstretch and around the turn, put ahead in front at the quarter pole, carried a short lead over CAROL'S COMIC into the final furlong, put that rival away approaching the sixteenth pole and drew away to the wire. GENTLEMEN'S CLUB chased the top trio three to four wide into the turn, took aim four wide turning for home, put in a mild bid entering the final furlong and gained second but was no match for the winner. CAROL'S COMIC bobbled leaving the gate but recovered quickly and went up to fight for the lead three deep, battled three wide through the turn, dueled outside ALPINE THUNDER into the final furlong, then yielded to that rival in midstretch and flattened to third. SMARTY NOSE trailed along the rail into the turn, lost ground around the turn while moving off the fence, spun three wide into the lane and passed a tired rival. MORELLO took a short lead over outer pair early, vied along the fence through the turn and lost command at the quarter pole, fought to the top of the lane, then yielded to the leaders and folded in the furlong grounds.
