Footnotes
TOMMY NORRIS broke a step slow, rushed up to take control with SOUTHERN MELODEE alongside, cleared that rival on the turn, opened up leaving the bend, held a comfortable lead into deep stretch, grew weary late but was able to hold. FIONELLO was off slow to begin, trailed up the backstretch, advanced three wide around the bend, closed well under left handed encouragement, drew alongside TOMMY NORRIS approaching the wire but was too late. WHAT A GIFT saved ground from off the pace, cut the corner turning for home, angled out in the lane and rallied for third. ALLEQUIN SUMMER chased the top pair from inside, lost ground on the turn, remained on the fence to the stretch, offered a mild response down the lane and got outkicked for the show. SOUTHERN MELODEE pressed the pace from outside, could not keep up with the winner and chased two then three wide on the turn, kept trying down the lane and closed the gap late. FUEGO DEL SOL chased from off the rail or outside a rival, dropped back on the turn and tired.
