CRUDE VELOCITY was off a bit slow to begin, moved forward but had to check when running up behind a rival, steadied behind a rival again near the seven-sixteenths pole, was on the move next to the fence then in the two path on the turn, angled out in upper stretch, dueled and bumped with CIVIL LIBERTY late and bested the runner-up. CIVIL LIBERTY dueled from inside then chased past the half-mile pole, angled off the rail approaching the quarter pole, re-bid three deep turning for home, grabbed the lead in upper stretch, fought with CRUDE VELOCITY and bumped in deep stretch and was outgamed in the end. DUKE SILVER raced up close behind the leader early, steadied a bit two wide into the turn, tipped out to the four path around the bend, chased within striking distance with a furlong remaining but flattened in the late stages. DECISIVE WIN dueled from outside then inched ahead at the half-mile pole, headed by outer rival past the five-sixteenths pole, yielded in upper stretch and flattened to fourth. EMBRY SHOW raced off the pace under coaxing for a bit then moved into striking distance, rounded the bend three to four wide and could not rally when called upon. CAPTAIN SHREVE stalked four deep up the backstretch, challenged three then two wide around the bend and faltered in the stretch run. MEMORY raced near the back well off the rail, went four wide into the turn, angled to the two path midway around the bend, tipped back out to the three path with a quarter mile remaining, drifted in a bit in upper stretch and failed to menace. GALLATIN pressed the pace three deep early, dropped back around the turn and had little left for the drive. DEEP TRACKS lost his hind footing leaving the gate, trailed up the backstretch and was never a factor.
