RE ARMED JON showed the way up the backstretch, took pressure into the turn, led in the two path through the turn, drifted into the lane, lost command in upper stretch, drifted out and bumped INCANTO (IRE), fought gamely while brushing with INCANTO (IRE) late and won the bob. INCANTO (IRE) stalked outside a rival up the backstretch, bid three wide into the turn, got floated out by RE ARMED JON into the lane, grabbed the lead in upper stretch, took contact from RE ARMED JON midstretch, battled while brushing with RE ARMED JON in the last sixteenth and lost the bob. VANCOUGAR followed in range from off the rail, chased three deep on the turn, angled out and took aim at the top pair in upper stretch but finished evenly late. SMART CODE stalked two wide into the turn, waited between foes around the bend, shifted in and bumped GREGORY'S PRIDE in upper stretch and flattened in the late stages. GREGORY'S PRIDE unhurried in the beginning, drew closer up the backstretch, saved ground then went between rivals into the stretch, got bumped by SMART CODE shortly after and weakened in the final furlong. SPEARFISH got crowded to the back at the start, trailed early then moved four deep leaving the backstretch, could not sustain the forward momentum on the turn, continued wide into the lane and weakened. UNBRIDLED VISION raced up close on the inside, ridden along on the turn, got put in tight and checked in upper stretch, eased past the eighth pole and walked off. THERE WAS AN INQUIRY INVOLVING THE STRETCH RUN BETWEEN RE ARMED JON AND INCANTO (IRE). THE STEWARDS RULED, IN A MAJORITY DECISION, THAT THE CONTACT BETWEEN THE TWO RUNNERS WAS MUTUEL AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
