GEOMETRY stepped to the front and set the tone along the fence, took pressure on the backstretch, fought inside a pair of rivals turning for home, dueled with PROMISSIO into the final furlong, put that rival away inside the sixteenth pole, took on the challenge from EMPIRE'S CLASSIC late and gamely prevailed. EMPIRE'S CLASSIC bobbled leaving the gate, lagged behind on the inside early, went outside a rival on the backstretch, drew closer two then three wide on the far turn, angled out at the top of the lane, rallied under left handed urging, drew alongside GEOMETRY late but ran out of time. SMOOTH SALUTE settled off the pace on the inside then slightly off the rail, moved to within striking distance on the far turn, stayed on the inside in the lane and got up for third. PROMISSIO broke out, stalked a bit off the rail in the early going, ranged up three deep on the far turn, dueled with the winner into the final furlong and flattened out late. GEM MINT TEN raced up close to the outside of the pacesetter early, applied pressure in the middle stages, fought between rivals coming into the lane and weakened.
