CHIEF RESIDENT traveled in mid-pack two wide early, traveled three deep on the backstretch, asked around the far turn, challenged in upper stretch, took over with a sixteenth remaining and drove clear. FLASH OF LIGHTNING stumbled leaving the gate, steered to the inside trailing the field, gained three deep on the far turn, angled out at the top of the stretch, closed well and got up for second. DOING TIME settled in the two path, waited behind rivals while between foes on the far turn, tipped out into the lane, finished well but got edged for the place honors. ROBIN OLDS dropped off the pace and moved inside, ran up on heels on the first turn and had to take up, drew closer in the middle stages, waited along the inside, angled out at the top of the lane, showed late run and rounded out the superfecta. JOHN METCALFE was closest in pursuit from the two path early, drew alongside the leader into the far turn, dueled around the bend, took over in upper stretch, drifted out and corrected midstretch, lost command to the winner and flattened late. DR. FILKINS tracked from inside, saved ground to the stretch, moved out in the lane and weakened. POSITIVE TIMES went for the early lead from outside and crossed over, took pressure approaching the three-eighths pole, lost command in upper stretch and weakened in the late stages. BIG VENGEANCE tracked two wide around the first turn, chased between foes on the second bend and weakened. PRACTICAL BLAME angled to the inside racing towards the rear early, trailed around the far turn, went two wide into the lane and had little left for the drive.
