SOUTHERN MELODEE showed speed inside UECKER then got put in tight and had to take up at the three-quarter pole, switched to the outside and applied pressure through the middle stages, dueled through the far turn, bumped with UECKER at the top of the lane, battled down the lane and wore down the runner-up late for the victory. UECKER grabbed the early lead racing out SOUTHERN MELODEE, put that rival in tight and took control leaving the first turn, confronted by that rival again on the backstretch, maintained a short lead through the far turn, bumped entering the lane, resisted into the last sixteenth and yielded grudgingly in the end. FIONELLO tracked in the two path or outside a rival, came under a ride on the far turn, finished willingly through the lane but lacked the needed final kick. WHAT A GIFT settled on the inside, moved closer in the middle stages, hugged the rail to the stretch and finished evenly in the furlong grounds. SCATALOTADINGDONG trailed inside a rival around the clubhouse turn, moved off the fence on the backstretch had one rival beat into the far turn, was on the move four then three wide through the bend but flattened out in the lane. BANDOLERO traveled outside a rival at the back, moved further out on the backstretch trailing the field, navigated the far turn four to five wide and had little left for the stretch run. TIGGRRR WHITWORTH raced up close outside the top pair and pulled around the first turn, stalked up the backstretch, remained three deep into the far turn, got put in tight between rivals at the five-sixteenths pole and tired.
