EUGENE SLEDGE pressed from outside to the quarter pole, fought on even terms coming into the lane, put a head in front in upper stretch, battled through the final furlong and gamely prevailed. GAINES held a short lead over EUGENE SLEDGE up the backstretch and around the turn, headed by that rival exiting the bend, lost command in upper stretch, fought back from inside through the final furlong and came up just short in the end. BOOKED CLUBHOUSE tracked from the two path to the stretch, chased between in upper stretch, then finished determinedly in the last sixteenth to gain ground on the top pair and earn the show honors. DOING TIME raced in mid-pack outside a rival early, ridden along from the three path around the bend, put in a mild late bid but lacked the needed final kick. TIGHT DALLY chased from inside to the lane and failed to summon the needed response when called upon. ORACLE OF PARADISE stalked the top pair from off the rail, navigated the turn three wide, shifted out into the lane and could not rally. PASSION D ORO was off slow to begin, asked early and chased from off the pace on the inside, put to the left hand on the turn, moved off the rail in the lane and ran up behind rivals and checked late when lacking room. BIG VENGEANCE followed in range four wide into the turn, got forced out by ORACLE OF PARADISE leaving the turn and weakened down the lane. HALNINETHOUSAND raced off the pace outside a rival in the opening stages, took the turn three to four wide and failed to menace. FARMER TOM was off slow to begin, lagged behind the field to the stretch and never made an impact.
